Field Monitor & PTZ Controller: Connect and operate
Operational reference for connect and operate in Field Monitor & PTZ Controller.
Connect and operate
- On macOS, install the official NDI runtime if it is not already installed; Linux setup now installs and verifies it (the runtime used by Production Truck can be reused). Use the camera's NDI stream on a wired local network. This first release supports NDI video and NDI PTZ; video-only senders can be monitored but cannot be moved.
- Linux: extract the ZIP and run
bash install-linux.sh. macOS: runinstall-macos.commandwith Python 3.10 or newer. Python's venv/pip and a modern Chromium/Chrome/Edge browser are needed. The installer installs Pillow into an app-owned venv. No proprietary NDI runtime is bundled or license accepted automatically; Linux setup downloads the verified vendor installer and retains its license prompt. - Open GA360 Field Monitor. Choose Cameras → Find NDI cameras, choose the camera, give it a label and save. Discovery fills the complete NDI sender name; a single result is filled automatically. With multiple results, choose one from the list. A sender name may also be entered exactly. Choose the saved camera and Connect.
- Wait for a live picture, check camera identity and pan/tilt direction at low speed, then use the held direction/zoom buttons or enable USB. Inversion and separate movement/zoom speeds are provided.
The large monitor shows a continuously received JPEG presentation of the selected NDI stream (up to about 20 display frames/sec, scaled to 1600×900). Picture and PTZ use the same exact NDI sender and receiver. Aspect ratio and orientation are retained. The displayed age is time since the app received/displayed a frame, not measured camera-to-screen latency. Camera/network decoding latency still applies; this is not a frame-accurate broadcast monitor. There is no audio playback in this first release.
