Single Camera Kiosk: Saved USB PTZ and Mac audio
Operational reference for saved usb ptz and mac audio in Single Camera Kiosk.
Saved USB PTZ and Mac audio
In station administration, open Camera PTZ → USB controller setup. Choose the connected controller, apply the Xbox/standard preset or set axes, direction, hold button and speed, select Enable USB movement, then Save USB setup. Only administrators can change this profile. Setup is saved in private station data and bound to the configured NDI camera; changing cameras requires review/save again. The browser identifies the controller by its reported ID and layout, not its changing index. Identical reported IDs are ambiguous and pause control; browsers do not expose a reliable USB serial number.
The main kiosk restores the saved profile and connects when camera/event control is authorized. USB works while the PTZ dialog is closed, including the locked broadcast display for the authorized event. It does not unlock broadcast/account/admin controls. Truck reservations, ended events and sign-out stop local control. Dialog closure, focus/visibility changes, stale ticks, missing controllers and network failures stop motion but retain setup. Reconnect only the saved controller, center sticks and release the configured hold button before movement can resume. STOP pauses movement without deleting setup. Leaving/reloading the page releases its session; a new authorized page reconnects. The 0.5-second server watchdog remains. Browser/OS permissions may require pressing a controller button and keeping the kiosk page in focus; USB movement is paused in background windows. No always-on operating-system gamepad service is installed.
In Camera & audio → Sound, choose Camera audio, Microphone/audio input, System audio (computer sound), or Silent video. Mac microphone capture uses OBS CoreAudio. Native Mac system sound uses the audio-only ScreenCaptureKit source in OBS 30+ on macOS 13+; it does not show desktop video. Allow OBS microphone and/or screen/system audio recording in macOS Privacy & Security and restart OBS if requested. Older Macs need a manually configured loopback input. Play test audio and confirm the OBS/kiosk meter before readiness; source creation does not prove macOS permission or signal. This update does not change OS privacy permissions, install audio drivers, or change global OBS audio. Avoid duplicate global audio sources; managed microphone/system sources are mutually exclusive in the kiosk scene, camera sound is muted for separate capture, track 1 is enabled and monitoring is off. Native Mac USB, NDI hardware and audio/permission flows require validation on the actual workstation; automated tests use simulated devices and OBS.
1.0.11 fixes the USB enable checkbox remaining disabled after administrator verification. The checkbox is editable only for an authenticated administrator; use Save USB setup to apply the selected enabled state. Existing saved profiles and runtime control behavior are retained.
1.0.12 automatically proposes a sole detected controller in administrator setup, applies the Xbox/standard preset when advertised, and selects automatic arming. Review and Save USB setup once; no separate enable step is needed. Saved authorized profiles arm automatically on detection/reconnection after neutral sticks and a released hold button. An explicitly saved disabled profile is preserved. Multiple detected controllers require administrator selection. Customer pages cannot create or change setup.
1.0.13 fixes normal kiosk USB control incorrectly requiring a signed-in account and selected event after administrator setup. An enabled, camera-bound profile now grants local station PTZ use directly, including idle and locked display; it does not grant sign-in, event publishing or administration access. Camera reassignment, explicit profile disable, truck takeover and an event-ending transition still stop control. Station USB connections no longer bind to a customer identity, so sign-in does not unnecessarily invalidate them. Normal PTZ status is visible outside the hidden setup section, the PTZ button is available for a saved NDI camera while idle, and connection refusal/device mismatch reasons are shown. Browser-reported controller IDs may differ between browsers; configure the controller in the same browser used by the kiosk if a mismatch is reported. Existing deadman/neutral/watchdog and Mac audio behavior is unchanged.
