Collect and publish a race course survey

Plan a mapping session, verify GPS/video synchronization and review the captured course.

Updated November 4, 2026 · 2 minute read

Prepare the session

Choose the intended course and mapping workflow. Check device power/storage, GPS availability, camera connection and the supported measurement-import method. A GPS track, video and measurement file can describe different coordinate/time systems; they must be reviewed together.

Capture the course

  1. Start the app using its launcher and create/select the intended survey session.
  2. Verify a plausible GPS fix and live camera picture before walking. Confirm the app is actually recording/mapping rather than only displaying a preview.
  3. Mark start, finish, waypoints and split locations through the supported controls. Use names that will make sense when reviewing later.
  4. Follow the documented workflow for Moasure or other measurement data; importing a file does not automatically prove its alignment with GPS/video.
  5. Finish/stop the session normally and allow files to finalize before moving or shutting down the device.

Review before upload

Inspect route shape, units, distance, marked points, elevation and video synchronization. Identify GPS jumps or missing sections. Use the supported review/export/upload workflow to send the intended session to Hub. Check the published Course Intelligence view afterward, including the actual course and split points.

If Start does not progress

Record the selected devices and last status. Verify camera/GPS readiness, writeable storage and whether another controller is already running. Do not create many new sessions or repeatedly start/stop without inspecting the error; retain the existing survey files until you know what was captured.
