Audio-to-NDI: choose inputs and verify the receiver
Configure capture, channels and mute state, then check audio at the actual NDI receiver.
Prepare inputs and monitoring
Identify the physical/interface inputs you want to send. Multiple XLR connectors on an interface do not imply every application automatically mixes or routes them the same way. Confirm the OS can see the interface and the app's documented input configuration matches the intended channels.
Configure and test
- Install Audio-to-NDI and its documented NDI/audio dependencies. Connect the authorized account if required.
- Choose the intended input/device and supported channel setup. Start with conservative gain and monitor the app's meters.
- Speak or play a known source into each intended channel separately. Check that the correct meter responds and that mute/unmute works.
- Configure/start the supported NDI audio sending workflow and select that sender at the receiving system.
- Verify actual receiver audio, level, channel assignment and latency. A moving local meter proves capture, not remote reception.
No sound at the receiver
Check local capture first, then sender state, network discovery and receiver selection. Confirm receiver mute/routing and avoid adding the same source twice in OBS or another mixer. If the sender is missing, use the NDI network/dependency checklist; if it is present but silent, focus on channels and audio paths.
Operational closeout
Stop the intended send/capture workflow normally before changing devices or updating. Preserve your routing notes so the next operator can reconstruct the setup. Include device model, selected channels, sender label and receiver application in a troubleshooting report.
