Race Course Designer: Draw a course

Operational reference for draw a course in Race Course Designer.

Updated November 4, 2026 · 1 minute read · Application 1.0.5

Draw a course

  1. Choose Create race course, enter its name, target distance, type and optional authorized facility/organization, then Save and open mapper. Or select Design course on an existing course.
  2. Search for the location or enter latitude/longitude. Place 1. Start, draw 2. Draw path with ordered waypoints, and explicitly place 3. Set finish. A final waypoint alone never becomes the finish. Use the existing mapper controls for editing, undoing and clearing points.
  3. Add splits/checkpoints and flag setup markers as needed. Review the drawn distance against the target, then Save course map. Changes reset the route's review state. Existing measured-survey geometry protections remain in force.
  4. Edit course details, copy an existing course or export its course package from the mapper. Other authorized Hub tools see the same saved course. Saved copies never change the original.

The mapper starts in edit mode; Exit edit mode gives a view-only map. New routes need field verification. A concurrent save produces a conflict page containing the full submitted draft for copying/recovery. Load the newest course before applying the draft; the other save is retained. Map/search/elevation providers need internet access. Drawing and saving require Hub connectivity; there is no offline editing queue.
