Operational reference for linux touchscreen kiosk in Production Truck.

Updated November 4, 2026 · 2 minute read · Application 1.0.103

Linux touchscreen kiosk

Install Chromium/Chrome and OBS Studio in a Linux desktop session, then:

python3 linux_kiosk_setup.py install --autostart

This installs the application and its Python dependency in a per-user environment, with the Game Action 360 icon, desktop launcher and login autostart. Your distribution may need python3-venv. Dependency installation needs package repository access. For a portable installation use ./launch-kiosk.sh after installing requirements.

Kiosk mode has a full-screen isolated browser profile, larger touch controls and a local on-screen keyboard. It keeps Chromium's sandbox enabled and reopens the browser if it closes. Configure Linux desktop auto-login, display rotation, camera/capture-card permissions, audio devices and sleep/locking policies on the workstation. It starts at desktop login and automatically launches and connects to native Linux OBS Studio 28+. The managed workspace has an authenticated WebSocket on port 4457, a GA360 standby logo scene, a 1080p/30 starting profile and MKV recording folder. Settings are private to this workstation; existing desktop OBS profiles/collections are separate. The browser and controller supervisors reopen after an unexpected interruption. Linux desktop auto-login and hardware/power configuration remain operating-system setup tasks.

Use a 64-bit workstation with hardware appropriate to the number/resolution of camera decoders and its output encoder. A compact PC with a touchscreen can host the controls, but sustained multi-camera production may need a stronger local or WSS-connected engine. No hardware throughput benchmark is claimed.
