Production Truck: Linux NDI installation — 1.0.67
Operational reference for linux ndi installation — 1.0.67 in Production Truck.
Linux NDI installation — 1.0.67
Run bash install-linux.sh as the signed-in desktop user with OBS closed. Setup installs and verifies compatible shared decoder libraries; there is no manual FFmpeg compile step. If configured Ubuntu repositories do not supply the FFmpeg 7 ABI required by NDI 6.3, setup builds the bundled, checksum-pinned FFmpeg 7.1.5 source. Allow several minutes and enter the administrator password when requested. Internet access is required for system build packages. The libraries are installed in /opt/gameaction360/ndi-ffmpeg-7.1.5 and registered with the dynamic linker; the system ffmpeg command can remain version 6 or 8. A static or newer CLI is not proof of the required shared ABI.
New installation and Workstation updates use the same dependency verification. Source integrity, package solver, compiler, shared-library, decoder or Avahi failures return an incomplete installation. No PPA or packages from a different Ubuntu release are added. Existing app settings and OBS profiles are retained. Success verifies dependencies; reopen OBS and check actual live video and ISO support before production. To inspect decoder availability without making changes, run python3 obs_package.py status.
The bundled source is unmodified FFmpeg tag n7.1.5, distributed under its included licenses. The local decoder build uses the default LGPL configuration with no GPL/nonfree options. Source and licenses remain in vendor/linux/ffmpeg-n7.1.5.tar.gz.
