Production Truck: Recording confidence, recovery, sport actions and replay
Operational reference for recording confidence, recovery, sport actions and replay in Production Truck.
Recording confidence, recovery, sport actions and replay
ISO recordings → Recording confidence shows Program and each configured camera ISO independently: actual OBS output state, output-byte progress, elapsed time, recording folder, last exposed filename, free space and estimated minutes remaining. Estimates need multiple samples and combine the measured rates of tracked recordings on the same local filesystem, reserving 2 GB. They do not include other applications’ writes. Remote disk capacity is unverified. No byte growth for 15 seconds, low space, missing folders and recordings stopped outside this controller prompt review. OBS byte growth is not proof of finalized files or usable video/audio.
Readiness → Production recovery review reports an unclean controller exit or a recovered OBS connection. Atomic saved configuration is retained; a private last-good copy is used if config.json is unreadable, while the damaged file is preserved. The bounded session checkpoint retains the last observed OBS context and output flags. Engine reconnection remains automatic, with no automatic Program/Preview cut, PTZ motion, Auto Cut enablement, StartStream or StartRecord request. Review actual files and current outputs before restarting. Before starting the app-owned Linux OBS workspace, persisted Source Record recording/streaming/replay modes are cleared in that workspace’s scene collections and exact private originals are backed up. Reconnecting to an already-running or manually connected OBS does not stop its existing outputs.
Engineering → Operator multiview controls camera labels/tally backgrounds/ISO status and optional actual signal peak meters. Reopen Cameras + Program multiview after updating. Program stays above camera tiles. Red indicates visible camera membership in Program and green indicates Preview, including nested/composite scenes. Known IP addresses and URLs are removed from live camera labels. ISO status and Program recording/live indicators are separate from tally. Signal meters use OBS InputVolumeMeters on a dedicated authenticated event socket, with stale readings expired; fader gain is not used as a signal reading. Meter display is optional and its event connection is off by default. Graphics sources are excluded from camera assignment suggestions and the bounded audio-input scan.
Engineering → Sport camera actions creates named actions for directly connected NDI PTZ cameras. Choose a sport and suggested position name, camera and hardware preset number (0–99), optionally linking an OBS scene/overlay. This saves labels and associations only. On Live desk → Camera PTZ, expand Sport camera actions, select/connect that camera’s PTZ controls and use Store current position after aiming the camera. Store explicitly confirms overwriting camera memory. Recall requests the stored position; it does not mark a preset as reached or take its scene to Program. Preview/Take scene and Show/Hide overlay are separate actions. Preset commands require a fresh token from the selected, verified control session and accepted Stop. Application travel limits cannot guard firmware-managed preset moves; recall is blocked while they are enabled. Use verified camera-native travel limits for preset moves. Changing a source binding invalidates its saved action until reviewed. Venue profiles include sport actions and monitor preferences.
Replay adds a saved-highlight desk using OBS’s configured replay buffer. Configure duration/encoder in OBS Output settings first, start the buffer explicitly, then label and Mark and save moment. A mark submits SaveReplayBuffer once and waits for a different OBS-confirmed saved path; uncertain responses are never automatically repeated. Load a saved clip, cue it in Preview, review picture/sound, and explicitly Take replay to Program with Cut/Fade. Return to live explicitly returns to the scene that preceded the replay; external Program changes block an automatic assumption about that destination. Playback ending never switches scenes automatically. The desk uses one reusable owned media input and scene, checks memory capacity before loading, and refuses replacement/unload while on Program or nested into other scenes. Unload releases the selected file/decoder when off air. Forget entry removes history metadata only; clip files remain. Replay history contains up to 1,000 entries. Files remain on the OBS computer; the source confidence view is not browser audio playback or a frame-accurate editor.
All of these workflows still require verification on the actual workstation, camera firmware, OBS rendering and audio devices.
