Production Truck: Reconnect a saved camera

Operational reference for reconnect a saved camera in Production Truck.

Updated November 4, 2026 · 1 minute read · Application 1.0.103

Reconnect a saved camera

Use Reconnect camera on a saved camera card in Camera setup or Live desk → Camera PTZ. Saved camera cards appear before the assignment wizard. Routine reconnect does not require opening the source editor, choosing a sender again or saving a new mapping.

NDI and supported capture inputs briefly detach and restore the selected sender/device; network/media inputs use OBS’s native media restart. The existing OBS input/UUID, scene placement, audio/filter settings and camera presets are retained. Supported device settings include Linux V4L2, macOS AV capture and Windows DirectShow. Only controls targeting that same camera are released; another selected camera’s USB/PTZ session remains intact. Connect PTZ controls again after verifying the reconnected camera’s picture.

Other cameras may remain live while an off-Program camera reconnects. The app rejects a reconnect when this source is visible in an active Program composition (including nested scenes/groups), has an active ISO/source recording/output, or has a conflicting/replaced assignment. It explains what needs review. Missing or unsupported OBS inputs require Source & scene. A private recovery record retains the original sender/device if reconnect is interrupted; retry restores that setting after OBS is available. A successful request is not proof that new frames are arriving: verify the live picture.
