Golf GPS, range finder and Hole Intelligence
Use location and course maps while understanding accuracy and missing-data limits.
Start with the right course and hole
Open the intended round and hole. Hole Intelligence and Range Finder use the course data available for that hole. Confirm tee/green identity and the units shown before relying on a distance. Missing geometry is not fixed by changing a score.
Enable location
- Allow the website/browser location permission on a device with location support. Use a secure website address.
- Start GPS through the provided control and allow time for a position fix outdoors.
- Check whether the device position is plausible on the map. A desktop computer or an obstructed phone can give poor or stale positions.
- Select a target/marker with the supported range-finder controls and read the displayed distance and units.
- Compare the map with on-course markers when precision matters. Do not mistake a map location for a measured laser distance.
Hole Intelligence
Use the available aerial image, hole geometry, target markers and photos to understand the hole. Verify that the selected hole matches the physical course; adjacent greens and tees can be close together. Read any course-specific information rather than assuming all courses have equally complete mapping.
If location or distance is wrong
Check OS/browser permission, whether GPS is running, device location services and the active hole. Record the visible position and selected target with the course/hole name. A large positioning error can come from the device; a consistently misplaced target can come from course data. Avoid editing course geometry without authorized course-management access.
