Install applications on macOS

Extract the correct app, complete setup and check macOS camera, microphone and audio permissions.

Updated November 4, 2026 · 2 minute read

Prepare the Mac

Use the current application ZIP and read its MACOS instructions where present. The included launchers and dependencies vary by application. OBS-based tools require their documented OBS/plugin setup; native Intercom has its own build and microphone setup. Keep each application's extracted folder separate.

Install and launch

  1. Extract the ZIP in Finder and move the folder to a location you can keep. Do not start from inside an archive preview.
  2. Prefer Workstation installation when the app is available to your account. For an independent install, use the supplied Mac installer and launch command specified in that package. Common packages include install-macos.command, Start-Mac.command or launch-macos.command; use the actual file supplied with your app.
  3. Read any setup error before closing the terminal window. If macOS blocks a launch, inspect the stated reason and use the normal Privacy & Security workflow only for the intended package. Do not broadly disable system protection.
  4. Allow the relevant application or host process to use its microphone, camera or local network when needed. OBS may require permissions separately from the GA360 controller.
  5. Reopen the affected application after a permission change if the OS requests it. Test a real camera, microphone and sound source at low volume.

System audio is a separate test

Hearing sound through speakers does not mean OBS or an application can capture it. Select the correct audio mode, confirm OS permission, play known sound and watch the actual meter. System audio support depends on the installed OBS/macOS combination and the app's implementation.

If the Mac build or app fails

Record the exact installer error, application version, macOS version and computer architecture. For native Intercom toolchain errors, use its application reference. For a crash, retain the crash report and distinguish a crash from a blocked permission prompt or a failed audio-device selection.
